Germain’s flagship cuvée, from vineyards with an average age of 25 years, planted in clay-limestone soil and silty sand, fermented in stainless steel for 8-10 days with gentle infusion and aged a few months in large wooden tanks. This is a pure, juicy, and structured Loire red with classic Cabernet Franc notes of blackberries and graphite. You’ll want to have some on hand year round, or cellar for a few years and enjoy the evolution.
Since the early 1990s, Thierry Germain has been at the head of the Domaine des Roches Neuves, located in Varrains, near Saumur (Loire) within the Saumur Blanc and Saumur Champigny appellations. Acclaimed by critics (3 stars in the Green Guide and 5 in the Bettane and Desseauve guide) and acclaimed by amateurs, this star winegrower from the Loire region has been working his 28 hectares of vines according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamics for years. 2000. Particular attention is paid to the life of the soil and to the balance of its two favorite grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Chenin, the king grape varieties of the region.
